At the time my niece was born, my sister had given birth to the only two children in our family. Her first child was a boy. My niece’s godmother was not aware that in our family, it is traditional for the godmother to give the girls baptism gowns. As a result, my mom and I went shopping for her.

We had the best time! Little girls’ gowns are absolutely stunning. Unlike with boys’ gowns, there are really a wide variety of styles available to choose from. We were looking for a unique gown, something that would stand out from the rest of the babies. Also, since this was the first girl in our family, we definitely wanted it to be “girly.”

It was actually a little harder than we thought to find the perfect gown. We finally did, however, and my niece looked beautiful on her big day. My sister was also thrilled, which was important to us.
